TUGENDHAT
Tugendhat is a custom typeface exploring the relationship between typography, architecture, and history. Inspired by the iconic modernist architecture of Villa Tugendhat, the typeface draws from three key historical moments in the villa’s story, translating elements of its architecture and past into the form and texture of each letter.
The project explores how typography can act as a visual record of place, using letterforms to communicate architectural character while embedding historical narrative within the typeface. Through structure, materiality, and texture, Tugendhat reinterprets the villa’s identity through a contemporary typographic language.
